PBTF Names Joanne Salcido VP of Medical Research and Family Support
Asheville, NC, February 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation has named Joanne Salcido vice president of research and family support, effective March 4.
Salcido’s distinguished career has included the successful development of innovative and robust research funding programs for private foundations that are advancing cutting-edge research in the brain cancer field, including The Ben & Catherine Ivy Foundation and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. She has conducted laboratory research in academia and at start-up companies, and has worked as a senior analyst in market research consulting firms in the drug development industry.
At the PBTF, Salcido will serve as the foundation’s chief mission officer. She will focus on building childhood brain tumor research grant funding and enhancing support services for families of children with brain tumors.

Salcido is also trained as a lay person to provide one-on-one care and support to people during times of personal hardship. Originally from Montreal, she received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from Oregon Health & Sciences University and obtained her B.S. in biology from Stanford University.
