MaxLite Donates Fifteen Hundred Dollars to Food Rescue Program
West Caldwell, NJ, February 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- MaxLite®, a global leader in state-of-the-art LED technologies, announced today it donated $1,500 to Table to Table through the organization’s “Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch” program. Table to Table is a community-based food rescue program that collects fresh and perishable food that would otherwise be wasted and delivers it to nearly 70 recipient agencies that serve the hungry throughout Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and Essex counties in New Jersey.
“As a New Jersey company, we are proud to give back to other New Jersey residents that are less fortunate,” said Yon Sung, MaxLite President and CEO. “For the last three years, the entire MaxLite family in New Jersey and California set aside one day to donate our lunch money to this great cause, and then I matched the employee contribution.”
Each of MaxLite’s employees were asked to donate the equivalent of one day’s lunch money, or more, and place the donation within Table to Table’s “Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch” signature brown paper collection bags. Employee contributions totaled $750, and Mr. Sung matched the contribution dollar for dollar. Table to Table is able to serve its recipients meals at less than 10 cents per meal, and through MaxLite’s contributions, the organization will be able to provide nearly 15,000 meals.
The MaxLite community on each coast held a “Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch” company barbecue, with food cooked and prepared by employees, at the respective offices. The excess food from the barbecue was also donated to Table to Table, which picked up the excess food in a refrigerated vehicle and then distributed it to local organizations, including soup kitchens, homeless shelters and elder care programs.
“Ensuring that our hungry neighbors have access to healthy and nutritious food is a responsibility that I believe all of us share,” said Linda Senter, Chair of the Essex County Initiative at Table to Table. “Initiatives like ‘Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch’ help provide the resources for us to accomplish this goal. Despite the ever-growing need, community partners such as MaxLite guarantee that these resources remain available. Collaboration with MaxLite remains a joy, as the company consistently incorporates the spirit of the program into the unique way it is implemented each year.”
