Free Boilers to Ease Fuel Poverty in Essex and Suffolk

Colchester, United Kingdom, March 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Under a new Government-led scheme to ease fuel poverty, qualifying householders are now eligible for a free high efficiency condensing gas boiler under the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHRCO). This is a nationwide scheme funded entirely by the energy companies and Essex-based Blueflame, the gas, electrical and renewable energy specialists, have been appointed to carry out free installations in East Anglia.

Speaking about the introduction of this scheme, Kevin Bull, director, Blueflame said: “As the cost of utilities continues to rise, it’s becoming harder for many households to afford the basic comfort of keeping warm. By replacing old inefficient boilers in bands C, D, E, F and G, which waste both energy and money, with boilers in band A, home heating will become more affordable.”

To qualify for a free boiler the householder must either own the own property or be in private rental accommodation, have a gas boiler which has an energy efficiency rating of band C or lower and be in receipt of Child Tax Credits or a State Pension Credit. Once qualified, Blueflame will send an assessor to the property to conduct a free survey to establish the exact model and size of boiler required to meet the demands of the household. It is important to understand that the HHCRO should not be confused with the Government’s Green Deal, which has been launched at the same time. With the Green Deal any energy efficiency improvements made to the property is paid for through the electricity bill. Under HHRCO there are no costs to the householder; the boiler and its installation are entirely free.
