Indie-Country singer, songwriter, performer Rebecca Day releases a follow up single to her debut EP, "Now Here," in Jacksonville, FL at Seven Bridges Grille and Brewery on March 30th.
Jacksonville, FL, March 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- “We were moved by the first note and drawn in by every one following. We knew immediately she was a perfect fit and booked her instantly.”- Aloft Hotel Tapestry Park
Jacksonville, FL musician Rebecca Day is releasing, ‘Honest,’ a follow-up single to her debut EP, ‘Now Here,’ at a single release party for her supporters. The official release date for Honest is March 30th, but the song has already garnered attention and is receiving Internet airplay from top podcast shows such as Indie Music Sampler.
Honest was recorded in musician and producer Chuck Nash’s Jacksonville studio. Nash has worked with Florida bands such as Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, and recently released an album of his own titled, ‘Ten Short Stories by C.L. Nash.’
Rebecca’s EP, Now Here, was also recorded at Nash’s studio, and because of that experience, she chose his studio again for her follow up recording.
“Chuck’s studio is top notch,” says Rebecca. “Plus, he’s a blast to work with. He’s got two rules. One, there are no set rules to recording music so trying new things is a must. And two, there are no apologies in the studio.”
A theme for the Honest recording was getting outside the comfort zone. Drum beats done by Florida percussionist, Ken Nasta, were not simply confined to a traditional drum kit. Tambourines, Congas and everyday household items were used during the recording.
“At one point, we recorded a single beat on a miked washing machine. It sounds very strange when describing it. But when you hear the song, it works. There’s a bit of a dark edge to the percussion of Honest. It really helps drive the song,” she says.
Though Rebecca moved to Florida with her family in 2002, she stays very connected with her South Carolina roots. Heavily influenced by today’s country artists such as Miranda Lambert, and her southern heritage, many of the songs she pens focus on inner-strength and overcoming life’s obstacles.
“The main goal I want to accomplish musically is to empower each listener and supporter. It’s a goal I include constantly within my music and brand.”
Rebecca spends her time performing at different Southeast venues. Some Florida venues include Seven Bridges Grille and Brewery, Mellow Mushroom, Speckled Hen Tavern and The Surf Restaurant and Bar.
Day is scheduled to perform at The Riverside Arts Market main stage on May 11th from 2:30-3:30 pm. For this performance, she will bring to the stage viola player, and sister, Jen Day-Thompson, who can be heard on the Honest recording and is performing with her at the release as well.
“I love the sound her viola brings to the music. It’s not an instrument you typically hear—the violin is far more common. It’s so much fun when we get to play together because we are so connected. I’m excited to bring her to the stage with me more and more,” says Rebecca.
The ‘Honest’ Release Party will be held on March 30th at Seven Bridges Grille and Brewery from 5-8 pm on the back patio. A live music performance, new music premiere, merchandise table, prize giveaways, appetizers and more will be a part of the event. Admission is free.
More performance dates for summer 2013 will be announced soon.
‘Honest’ will be available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Reverbnation and other online retailers on March 30th.
