Cryoserver Email Archiving Used to Comply with Florida Sunshine Law

The Florida Sunshine Law was enacted in 1967. The regulation provides a right of access to both state and local governmental proceedings. The law is applied to any meeting of two or more members subject to the Sunshine Law to discuss matters, which will come before the governing board for action.

The Sunshine Law provides for a right of access to existing public records. Electronic archiving systems are now necessary to meet the requirements of the Sunshine Law because email has become a common form of written communication.

The law applies to "any board or commission of any state agency or authority or of any agency or authority of any county, municipal corporation or political subdivision." It applies equally to elected or appointed boards or commissions.
