Hip Hop Artist Phenom Captivates Audience, Lands Distribution Deal with Indie Label Lincs Records, Inc.
Linc Records Inc. executives M. Gene Lincoln III and Matt Gregory award Chicago hip-hop artist PHENOM of Project Born Records with a distribution deal.
Plainfield, IL, March 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Competition heated up Sunday, February 24th at the 2013 Blok Club DJs Meet-n-Greet as Project Born Records' artist PHENOM took the stage. Captivating the audience and executives of Lincs Records, Inc., his beat-box intro leading to an a capella song set the tone for a performance no other artist could replicate. Executives M. Gene Lincoln III and Matt Gregory of Lincs Records awarded PHENOM with a distribution deal after unanimously voting in favor of the artist.
“I knew I had to give the judges something different because most of the artists performing were starting to sound the same. My music is unique and has a message. It’s not just about gangs, girls, and guns,” expressed PHENOM.
PHENOM started rhyming at age 13 and considers himself an emcee, not a rapper. His music inspires others to reflect on cultural issues and to become proactive in solving those issues. In 1995, PHENOM was chosen for the Public Allies program where he had the opportunity to work with and teach youth about violence prevention strategies. As the Founder and CEO of the award-winning POETREE CHICAGO, PHENOM was influenced to start L.Y.R.I.C with co-founder and national poet K-Love in 2009. Today, the L.Y.R.I.C program serves Chicago-based high school students and offers them opportunity to write and perform poetry as a non-violent means to stopping the violence in their neighborhoods.
Currently, PHENOM had begun to make his mark, headlining his own shows while sharing the stage with some of the industry’s most renowned hip hop artists including Kanye West and Dead Prez. In addition, he has had the opportunity to work with newly acclaimed producers 42 Keez (Twista) and Rashid Hadee (Lil Brother) as well as legendary producers Ron Trent, Wajee (Slum Village), and Nick Beats (Toronto). Backed by hard hitting tracks and a cipherous-lyrical style, PHENOM is set to shape his own niche in hip hop as previous Chicago hip hop artists, Kanye West and Common have successfully executed.
With this distribution deal, PHENOM and Project Born Records are looking to release an album that reflects a creative blend of Hip Hop, R& B, and Reggae, which serves to show his diverse and bold musical range and ability. “My music gives the listeners a conscientious viewpoint about life as I experience it,” PHENOM adds.
"It's not every day I get to introduce hip hop music fans to a emcee that exceeds all expectations, but that's exactly what PHENOM is doing," says M. Gene Lincoln III, Lincs Records co-founder and CEO. "He will take the hip hop industry to a new chapter and inspire listeners everywhere. I can't wait for people to hear it!"
