As South Nassau’s chief medical officer, Dr. Efferen is responsible for facilitating medical staff interactions with hospital administration and the governing board and for assuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the hospital’s mission. She also assists with strategic planning and execution, as well as the implementation of disease management programs, and monitors the effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators.

Dr. Efferen is board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. She has been listed in the Consumers Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians, Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area (for seven years), Best Doctors’ Best Doctors in America and has received a host of awards/honors, including a spot in the 2010 class of Long Island Business News’ Long Island’s Top 50 Business Women.
