Highland Homes’ Staff Honored by Professional Women in Building

Kathie McDaniel and Amy Cooper of Highland Homes were recently recognized for their dedication and service by Professional Women in Building.

Tampa, FL, March 06, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Highland Homes is excited to announce that Kathie McDaniel, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Amy Cooper, Marketing Manager, were recently honored at the Professional Women in Building (PWB) awards luncheon held at the International Builder’s Show (IBS). McDaniel was named the 2012 Member of the Year, while both women received continuing education grants.

“Homebuilding is no longer just a man’s world, and the PWB gives women an opportunity to come together and celebrate each other’s successes in the homebuilding industry,” said McDaniel. “Working with Highland Homes and the homebuilding industry has been a great experience, and it is a huge honor to have received this award.”

McDaniel was awarded the 2012 Member of the Year for her leadership on a national and local level. As Area 5 Trustee for the National Association of Home Builder’s PWB Council, she coordinated events, got members involved and helped to create the PWB of the Polk County Builders Association (PCBA) last fall.

Since its inception, the PWB of the PCBA has made a huge impact on the local community. Polk County executive officer, Stephanie Hutton, was named the Executive Officer of the Year for her efforts in the formation of the local chapter. In addition, the PWB of the PCBA won second place for their community outreach event, Cocktails and Conversation BINGO Night, which benefited kidsPACK of Polk County.

The Merillat “Women of the Future” education grant that Cooper and McDaniel received provides scholarship money to be used towards the pursuit of building industry related education. Cooper plans to use her scholarship to finance studies towards her Master in Residential Marketing designation, which is bestowed upon less than 1-percent of building industry professionals.

“The homebuilding and marketing industries are continually evolving, and there are so many exciting things to learn,” stated Cooper. “The Merillat grant will allow us to further build upon our knowledge, so that we can continue to provide outstanding experiences for our home buyers.”
