About FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies
For the fifth year in a row, FORTUNE maintained its approach of a singular “World’s Most Admired” study. Executives, directors and securities analysts are asked to score top companies from a list of 687 companies in 30 countries from the Fortune 1000 (U.S. companies only), non-U.S. companies in the Global 500 with revenue of $10 billion or more, and top foreign companies operating in the United States. Companies were scored on a 1-10 scale on nine reputation drivers. The average of the nine reputation driver scores constitutes the overall reputation score. In addition to the industry rankings, respondents are asked to pick the 10 companies they admire most from a list of companies that ranked in the top 25% in last year’s survey, plus those companies that finished in the top 20% of their industries. Responses are used to generate the overall “Top 50” list.
