CSE Software Inc. Develops New City of Peoria Website
Peoria, IL, March 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- CSE Software, an IT company known for creative thinking, is proud to announce the development of the City of Peoria website at www.peoriagov.org. The new website features over 200 pages of content and entirely new look, all organized in a citizen-friendly format.
CSE’s multimedia development team worked closely with city council members, citizens and city staffers to streamline navigation and content, all with the goal of giving users a better experience. The site features dedicated areas for residents, businesses and visitors; as well as news, meetings and events. Visitors can find city services; quick links to codes and ordinances; employment; and a multitude of other helpful information such as a “Citizens’ Information Center”, and web-based forms for commission application and FOIA requests. An important objective for the city was to simplify the process of mass emergency communication (such as snow events, collision alerts, and Amber alerts). CSE provided a solution that allows the city’s editors to quickly display a colored banner across the top of the entire website, which visitors can click to find more information.
Once functionality and design were in place, the site went through rigorous rounds of quality assurance testing. Before the site went was opened to the public, CSE trained over 40 Peoria staff members to properly maintain and edit the new site. Vice President Renee Gorrell and Multimedia Developer Nick Striegel unveiled the site at a City Council Meeting. Mayer Jim Ardis said, “We are very excited that CSE did the work for us. I can speak on behalf of a lot of people who are excited to have a more user-friendly website.”
Another objective from the city was to create more access to public information by following suggestions from the Illinois Policy Institute (IPI). The IPI’s recommendations were used to create the Citizens’ Information Center, providing quick access to information regarded as vital to government transparency. The efforts were rewarded when Peoria City Chief Information Officer Sam Rivera was presented a certificate by the Illinois Policy Institute in recognition of achieving the 5th highest rated website for transparency among the top 25 largest cities in the state.
CSE Software can design a new website for your business or rescue a website that needs a redesign and new functionality. The site can be developed to run on any mobile device so your customers can access the site anytime, from anywhere. For more information visit www.csesoftware.com.
