Published Author Shares New Books of Adult and Young Adult Science Fiction, Children's Fantasy, and Travel
Author, Allen Pollens, releases seven works of fiction in addition to a travel book in less than two years. It is an extraordinary feat and he is willing to discuss its accomplishment.
Beaverton, OR, March 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- He chose to begin by talking about "Alternative Lives," a contemporary science fiction novel with a medical/psychological tilt. "What if you could revisit a decision you made that affected the course of your life?" he asked. "What if you could experience the road not taken and learn whether your decision was the right one?"
In Pollens' book, the detection of the "Alternative Lives" phenomenon is one of two unexpected occurrences. The linkage between the two happenings is such that researchers must come upon alternative life dreams first. There will be no clue about the existence of yet another event. More deeply hidden than the first, the second happening is potentially startling and dangerous. Bringing either occurrence forth requires the design of a unique extended-sleep-stasis chamber.
Dr. Harold Treadwell is a PHD psychologist and a professor at Philadelphia's Jess Hawkins University. In spite of years of academic achievement, Harold has low self-esteem. Memories of a years-earlier incident plague him. He immerses himself in defining a sleep-study project. It's objective is to uncover new treatments for sufferers of phantom pains that do not respond to conventional methodologies and diagnoses.
Treadwell spends five years designing a sleep-stasis chamber. It is a necessary aspect of his research grant request to the National Institutes of Health. Help from an unexpected benefactor with connections in Washington, facilitates approval of the proposal. However, the challenges Harold faces are just beginning. He suppresses thoughts of his regrettable past and moves on to assemble a research team to join in the quest for the discoveries he perceives await them. What they find is astonishing, perilous, and with implications that extend far beyond Philadelphia, PA.
