Grand Caribe Belize Resort & Condominiums Announces Results of Its First-Ever Facebook Photo Competition

San Pedro, Belize, March 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Grand Caribe Belize Resort and Condominiums takes great pleasure in announcing the results of its first-ever photo competition on Facebook. Paula Segrest, of Slocomb, Alabama, has emerged as the undisputed winner of a 3-night vacation for two. Grand Caribe takes this time to congratulate her and to say that they are immensely looking forward to welcoming her to their world-class resort in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

The contest was launched on December 19, 2012 and ended at midnight on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013. Grand Caribe wanted to do something in the spirit of the most romantic day of the year and came up with the idea of a photo competition that would celebrate the beneficence of relationships. The rules of the contest were simple – contestants needed to enter a photo, along with a short caption that elaborated why they should win. Contestants were encouraged to share their entry with their friends on Facebook in order to get ‘Votes’ for their photo. The prize at stake was a 3-night stay for two in a luxurious one-bedroom suite at Grand Caribe Resort, as well as breakfast daily and a guided snorkeling tour to the world-renowned Shark Ray Alley, which is part of a protected area within the Meso-American Barrier Reef, the largest in the Western Hemisphere.

32 hopefuls submitted their photos for a chance to win, along with stories of why their photo should be voted for. There was a total of 480 votes cast by the time the contest ended, after which it was clear that voters felt that Paula’s story and photo were the most deserving of the prize. Paula spoke movingly of her time in Ambergris Caye with JessieFaye, her beloved pup that had recently passed away, and of her desire to return to the island to honor her memory. The success of Paula’s entry shows the triumph of human affection and is a nod to the enduring nature of any great relationship.
