International Coalition Seeks Child Sponsorship Stories
Volunteer movement based in Canada collects child sponsorship stories from around the world.
Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, August 09, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Worldview, an international child poverty volunteer movement based in Canada, is collecting videotaped stories about child sponsorship for its new website www.worldview.ca
According to site creator Stephen Jarnick “We want to give people a chance to share their personal experiences with child sponsorship and to show that anyone can sponsor a child.” Jarnick adds “Sponsorships can be done by individuals or along with family, friends, classmates, co-workers or church groups. It's a real cross-section of society participating in these programs - there's no particular age range or income level. Contrary to popular opinion, sponsors often don't have lots of extra money, but they've made being other-centred a priority in their lives. The daily cost is about the price of a cup of coffee, and a sponsorship can be terminated at any time if financial situations change. For anyone considering sponsoring a child, it's important to know that their money will be spent wisely. For the four charities that we focus on, a minimum of 80% of donations go to their programs for the poor, and all of their financial statements are government audited.”
The Worldview site's currently featuring music videos by sixteen artists from ten countries. The site also has an animated virtual tour to teach how child sponsorship works and a link to the United Nations World Food Program's educational video game Food Force.
Anyone wanting to tell their sponsorship story on the site must currently be sponsoring a child through one of Worldview's featured charities - Christian Children's Fund, Compassion, Plan or World Vision. Webcam, cell phone or digital camera video files (60 seconds max) can be sent to mailworldview@yahoo.ca
Worldview teaches about child sponsorship and encourages support of the world's four major child sponsorship organizations. It is not a charity and it doesn't accept donations.
The Worldview promo video can be viewed on MySpace TV at
