Sutor Announces Title Fight Opponent, Undercard at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s April 12 Friday Night Fights
Dover, DE, March 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Ed Sutor, President and CEO of Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, announces the fight card for the Friday Night Fights series event on April 12, in the Rollins Center®.
Heavyweight superstar Amir “Hardcore” Mansour of Penns Grove, N.J., a crowd favorite in the Rollins Center, is eager to protect his perfect record of 17 wins, 13 by knockout, in the headliner against Devin Vargas of Toledo, Ohio, with 18 wins – seven by knockout – and two losses. Mansour holds the World Boxing Foundation Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship title.
Vargas, a two-time National Heavyweight Golden Gloves Champion, represented the U.S. as team captain for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. His only professional losses were handed down by two elite, world-class fighters, Andrzej Wawrzyk (26-0, 13 KOs) and Kevin Johnson (28-3-1, 13 KOs). Notably, one of Johnson’s losses was a 12-round decision with current World Boxing Council Champion Vitali Klitschko.
Fighters on the undercard include unbeaten, 18-year-old top welterweight prospect Dusty Harrison (13-0, 8 KOs) of Washington, D.C. “Dusty Harrison is a favorite in the D.C. Metropolitan area and at only 18 years old has already made a name for himself on the boxing circuit,” said Ed Sutor.
