Beverly Hills, CA, March 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Guy Massry, MD, Beverly Hills cosmetic eyelid (blepharoplasty) surgery and associates Don Yoo, MD and Grace Peng, MD have published their results on comparing lower blepharoplasty with fat transposition to the sub vs. supraperiosteal planes. This is a two year study which demonstrates that repositioning native lower eyelid fat to either plane yields excellent and equal aesthetic results. This is a critical finding in lower blepharoplasty surgery which was not previously described. The questions as to how best to perform this technique has been a hot topic of debate at scientific symposia for years. This report finally provides concrete data and answers to this question.
This material was first presented by Dr. Yoo at last year’s fall meeting of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS http://www.asoprs.org/) in Chicago, Illinois. It was then further elaborated on in January by Dr. Massry at the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery meeting in Atlanta Georgia (SESPRS http://www.sesprs.org/). This month is had been published ahead of print in the journal Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as an online first article dated March 7, 2013 http://archfaci.jamanetwork.com/onlineFirst.aspx . The article is titled:
Transconjunctival Lower Blepharoplasty With Fat Repositioning: A Retrospective Comparison of Transposing Fat to the Subperiosteal vs. Supraperiosteal Plane.
Donald B. Yoo, MD; Grace Lee Peng, MD; Guy G. Massry, MD
This is just another piece of information in the continued evolution of lower blepharoplasty surgery which allows surgeons to select the best procedures for patients to attain the best surgical outcomes.
