Bios:
Maria Chisolm first took an interest in writing at the age of ten when she asked her Grandfather to buy her a diary. She has worked with and was inspired by the late Adolph Caesar. She won a poetry contest at the Queens Borough Public Library in 2007. Inga Judd, has read some of her work on WBAI Radio, Hugh Hamilton’s Talk Back Radio Show. Maria’s work is in three anthology books and was in the 2005 edition of Essence Magazine. She has done open mic poetry in Detroit, Washington D.C., and around NYC. Maria’s poetry book, Sudan’s Angels, was published through www.authorhouse.com, and she is in Norman Riley’s workshop.
MTK: poet/author/host/producer from the South Bronx. Featured in various books since 1983 and published 1st book of poetry, Eyez of the Sister Book of Thoughts Vol. I, in 2010. Has hosted events at Sam’s Soul Food Restaurant & Bar, La Pregunta Arts Café, Taza De Café, New Yorker Hotel and Bleu Violin in NYC. Featured at Garto Manor in New Rochelle, Stark’s Reality, Nomad’s Choir, NAMA, Yippee Museum, and the annual event on 1/1/2013 in NYC. For the past 3 years, producer of "Peace in the Streets Annual Cook-Out" which she will continue August 2013.
