VMZINC® Appoints New Territory Manager
Leading Provider of Zinc Products Welcomes Joe Tyron as New Territory Manager
Raleigh, NC, March 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- VMZINC® (http://www.vmzinc-us.com/), a leading specialist in innovative zinc products manufactured and sold by the Building Products Unit of Umicore, has announced that Lieutenant Colonel Retired Joe Tyron has joined the company as a new territory manager for the northeast and mid-west. In his new position, Tyron is responsible for developing relationships with architects and installers, providing presentations on metal roofing, and reviewing and overseeing project details. With more than ten years of experience in the construction and engineering industry, both in the United States and abroad, Tyron will provide architects and installers with the deep level of expertise that clients have come to expect from VMZINC®.
Tyron, who entered the United States Army Reserve as an armored crewman as a senior in high school, served in the Army Reserve until he accepted a two year ROTC scholarship to Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo., where he served as an engineer in the Missouri Army National Guard. Upon graduation, he was commissioned to a 2nd Lt. In February 1991, he entered the Regular Army as an engineer officer. Additionally, Tyron served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis Missouri, as a project manager, Deputy Commander and District Commander, where he worked in the civil works program on the Mississippi River and was the youngest district engineer to serve in this position since General Robert E. Lee. Tyron is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Staff School, Airborne, Jumpmaster, Pathfinder, Air Assault Schools, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. His awards and decorations include, but are not limited to, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (1 Oak Leaf Cluster) Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Metal, Korean Service Defense Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Reserve Component Achievement Medal, among others.
Tyron received his Bachelor of Science degree in management from Southeast Missouri State University in 1990 as a distinguished military graduate. He holds a Master of Science in management from Colorado Technical University and is a certified Project Management Professional, PMP. He is a member of the Army Engineer Association, the Society of Military Engineers and Project Management International. Active in his community, Tyron serves as a vestry member in his church, a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America and an advocate for Compassion International. Tyron resides in Fayetteville, N.C., with his wife and their two children.
