Maverick Entertainment Secures a 6-Pack of Films as the Sun Sets on SXSW
Maverick Entertainment continues its support of independent films by acquiring North American rights to six new movies. Films will begin releasing in third quarter 2013.
Deerfield Beach, FL, March 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- As SXSW came to a close, Maverick Entertainment Group, Inc. (Maverick) announced it had secured North American rights to six independent feature films. Melissa Mackenzie, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Acquisitions and Content noted “We are pleased to continue our long tradition of serving the independent filmmaking community by making their voices heard and allowing for their movies to be seen by the everyday masses.” Continued Mackenzie: “Maverick is known for its diverse lineup of films that our loyal following of indie movie enthusiasts can relate to, and our recent acquisitions will not disappoint!”
Maverick prides itself on finding and nurturing new talent, and introducing their movies to the world. “Our door is always open to new talent and filmmakers we’ve worked with in the past. Maverick is their launching pad, and we want nothing more than to see them succeed now and in the future,” said Mackenzie. Tangie Beaty, producer of Maverick’s new acquisition Yesterday Is Still Gone, couldn’t be happier having Maverick distribute her film. “Thanks again for helping to make one of our dreams to come true!” she beamed.
The new films offer diverse stories in diverse settings. Among them: a LGBT story of a woman torn between the man of her dreams and the woman who stole her heart; a hard-hitting action film, a drama set against the backdrop of the pop music industry, and a stage play about the secrets that we keep.
Maverick’s new films will begin releasing in third quarter 2013 and include Girls Like Us! Part 1, The Lies We Tell But The Secrets We Keep, Dangerous Men, Incomplete, I Used To Love Her, and Yesterday Is Still Gone.
