Gallery221@HCC Presents Suzanne Figures - Photography by Suzanne Camp Crosby March 21 – May 2, 2013
Tampa, FL, March 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Hillsborough Community College’s Gallery 221@HCC on the Dale Mabry campus opens Suzanne Figures – Photography by Suzanne Camp Crosby on Thursday March 21 with an Opening Reception from 5 – 7 pm. An Artist Talk is scheduled for 6pm with Crosby, who will be joined by Professor Barton Gilmore, Faculty in Charge of the Photography Department at St. Petersburg College.
The Suzanne Figures exhibit features selected images spanning almost 40 years up through today, and highlights several early works, including black and white prints where Crosby herself is the subject. As her work continued to develop, the figure was represented in other ways through dolls, props and silhouettes in various scenes or circumstances. As the 2004 City of Tampa Photo Laureate, Suzanne captured Tampa in her signature style, sometimes referred to as "directorial photography." Two images from this series are on loan from the City of Tampa as part of the Hometown Lens exhibit, running concurrently, one floor above Gallery 221@HCC, Dale Mabry campus.
Crosby studied under Jerry Uelsmann at the University of Florida while earning her undergraduate degree and obtained a Masters of Fine Art from the University of South Florida. An award-winning photographer, Crosby is represented in New York through the Julie Saul Gallery and is currently the Program Manager for the Art and Dance programs for the Ybor Campus School of the Visual and Performing Arts at HCC.
