About Catherine Lawhorn
Ms. Lawhorn has over 20 years experience in the field of social work and has been with the state level for 6 years. She is a Human Services Developer 2 for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) in Columbus, Ohio. This state agency is responsible for the implementation of the Ohio Administrative Code based on the safety and well being of children, legislation and federal statutes. Ms. Lawhorn is responsible for researching the impact of proposed legislation on Child Welfare practice and developing and providing technical assistance on Ohio’s Administrative Code rules for Public children services agencies regarding policy and case practices. She previously served as a Social Worker with Ross County Job and Family Services. Ms Lawhorn’s accomplishments include developing and facilitating an on-going educational program for licensed child care providers in 10 counties. She is a member of Ohio’s Human Trafficking Prevention Workshop. Ms. Lawhorn obtained a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology in 1996 and a M.S. in Human and Consumer Science in 2000, both from Ohio University. She has three children: Roger Holt, Lucas Holt and Bradley Holt and her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lawhorn. In her spare time, Ms. Lawhorn enjoys reading mystery novels, creating jewelry, gardening and playing with her Black Lab.
