Ladies to Net Fishing Skills at the South Florida "Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!" University, April 12-14, 2013
Ladies, learn how to catch the big ones at this fun weekend Fishing University. Learn fishing secrets in class and practice hands-on skills, plus have an option to use your new skills and go charter fishing at I.T. Parker, Dania Beach.
Fort Lauderdale, FL, March 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Lady anglers are invited to tackle fishing skills at the South Florida "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!" University offered specifically for women. The weekend conservation-minded university, held in conjunction with support from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), emphasizes hands-on skills with techniques such as releasing, knot tying, dehooking, bait rigging, spin casting, gaffing grapefruits, cast netting, trailer backing, boat handling and more.
The Women's Fishing University is scheduled for April 12-14, 2013 at the I.T. Parker Community Center in Dania Beach, FL. Women will have the chance to learn, practice and participate in this wholesome sport, while enjoying the waters surrounding South Florida.
Activities launch Friday night with a networking meet & greet starting at 6 pm, including a Master Chef appetizer contest. On Saturday, classroom presentations begin at 8 a.m., with beginner and advanced sessions on topics including fishing basics and conservation including a presentation by the FWC and lunch provided by Pollo Tropical. Other fishing classes include techniques for Offshore, Inshore, Bottom and Fly Fishing conducted by local experts. A "Dress for Fishing Success" fashion show is held at lunch, followed by hands-on skill practice where ladies learn the art of fishing directly from the Pros.
Sunday, the ladies board charter boats at approximately 7 a.m. for an optional half day fishing trip followed by a filet demonstration. The women typically catch and/or release sailfish, mackerel, tuna, wahoo, snapper and more.
Featured on national network television and more, the series is held in conjunction with the FWC through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, with major partners including Mercury Outboards, Ranger, Minn Kota, Humminbird, FishHound.com and Magic Tilt Trailers. There will be opportunities for local businesses and area anglers to take an active role in the seminar. I.T. Parker is at 901 NE 3rd St., Dania Beach, FL 33004.
Registration starts at $99 for the first 20 to sign up, then $135 after. Registration includes instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, networking reception and fundraisers, meals, goody bags and more. The Sunday Fishing Adventure, with tackle and bait provided, is additional. No equipment or experience is necessary. Membership is not required however there is a South Florida chapter available to continue the fishing fun.
