A 24 year old inventor has launched a new indie-project to put into production his camera that combines the best features of film with the convenience of digital. The camera boasts a 170 degree fisheye lens, film like pictures and some digital features including a time lapse mode, HD video and microSD storage. He's managed to raise over £18,000 on crowd funding site indiegogo in less than a month.
London, United Kingdom, March 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A new indie-project posted onto crowdfunding website IndieGoGo hopes to launch a camera that combines the best features of film with the convenience of digital. The camera boasts a 170 degree fisheye lens, film like pictures and some digital features including a time lapse mode, HD video and microSD storage.
The project has so far raised just shy of £18,000 in backing, with the funds required to cover the cost of manufacture. A maximum of only 1000 cameras are going to be produced.
The camera has been designed by phd student, Greg Dash from South Wales. “Originally, I designed the camera for myself after being unable to afford a good fisheye lens for my DSLR, and found clip on lens to often be low quality,” he said. “I set out to design an affordable camera that combined the convenience of digital with some of the cool things that lomography cameras can do.
“After I began using the camera, people started to stop me in the street and ask where they could buy one – so I’ve decided to try to raise the funds to allow people to get their own little fisheye cameras.”
The camera is first digital point and shoot camera currently available and is being sold for £65 – making it comparably cheaper to similar fisheye digicams such as the Go-Pro.
“Being a student, if I’m unable to raise the funds, making this camera won’t be possible,” added Greg. “so if anyone wants to get hold of them, get onto the page and pledge and share with your friends, otherwise I’m going to be the only one with one of these cool little cameras.”
