National Apartment Association Offers $1 Million Prize for Best Education Conference Marketing Plan

Association’s “Grow the Show” competition challenges marketers to double the paid registered attendance at the 2015 NAA Education Conference & Exposition.

Arlington, VA, March 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A prize of $1 million will be awarded to the marketing firm or individual whose marketing proposal is adopted by the National Apartment Association (NAA) and doubles the paid registered attendance at the 2015 NAA Education Conference & Exposition.

The award is part of NAA’s new “Grow the Show” competition, designed to increase paid attendee registration at the 2015 conference by 100 percent or more over the 2013 NAA Education Conference & Exposition final paid attendee registration numbers.

Interested contestants are invited to submit proposals designed to accomplish this surge in conference attendance. All proposals will be submitted to a judging panel that will choose one proposal.

The successful group will have two years to implement its project from the conclusion of the 2013 NAA Education Conference & Exposition until the conclusion of the 2015 NAA Education Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas.

“We are open to creative, non-traditional means,” said NAA President and CEO Doug Culkin. “That’s why we’re throwing it wide open.”

Culkin said he was inspired to do something innovative after he saw the impact of the original 2004 X-Prize for sub-orbital space flight. He liked that the initial $10 million purse stimulated $2.5 million in seed money, $100 million spent in pursuit, and launched a $1 billion industry.

“I can see how a grand challenge spurs real movement in the market,” Culkin said. “By leading innovation, we exponentially increase the amount of money poured in. I want to spark that kind of creativity. There is no reason we can’t harness the best marketers out there and reward them with $1 million for real growth in our show."
