Portland, OR, April 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Bill Nootenboom Joins Laughing Planet Cafe Board of Directors
Laughing Planet Café, a healthy, quick-serve restaurant chain with locations in Portland, Corvallis, and Eugene, today announced the appointment of Bill Nootenboom (Meriwether Group) to its Board of Directors. The Meriwether Group assisted founder Richard Satnick in selling Laughing Planet to a group led by Franz Spielvogel, Chief Executive Officer of Laughing Planet.
Concerning the development of Laughing Planet's Board of Directors, Spielvogel had much to say. “Frankly, Bill Nootenboom was identified early on, during the sales transaction, when he represented the seller. I saw Bill as a great candidate to join our board because of his broad experience building brands, and helping companies to reach their true potential,” said Spielvogel.
Nootenboom, 46, has been the founder, co-founder, CEO or COO of twelve separate businesses in such diverse industries as sporting goods, franchising, bio-mass energy, real estate development, construction, and advertising. As a Managing Partner, he leads Meriwether Group's business accelerator practice, helping businesses to conceive, refine, and implement strategy, and execute in all areas of the business. As an attorney, Nootenboom had an active practice in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, and business litigation. Nootenboom is also an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at both The University of Portland, and Portland State University. Nootenboom holds a B.A. with honors in Biology, Geology, and History from Carleton College, and a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School.
"Bill has demonstrated his ability to work with a company from concept to harvest, and to see the intrinsic value of a brand at the founder level. Bill brings important value to the board. Further, I really like the Meriwether approach to business – joining the left and right-brain – how they work with clients, and how well-connected they are to other potential partners in the space within which we operate," said Spielvogel.
"Laughing Planet is a truly disruptive company," said Nootenboom. “They are changing the way people think about food, health, nutrition, agriculture, and community. This company not only has the potential to become a very successful business, but it also has an opportunity to change the way the world relates to food. Laughing Planet is a very exciting company, and I’m honored to continue my involvement with them.”
This recent appointment establishes the total number of Laughing Planet board members at five. In addition to Nootenboom, the members of Laughing Planet’s board include Spielvogel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; Yoshitaka Tsuchiya, Founder and President of Japan’s Landwell, Inc.; David Demers, of HSM Pacific Realty; and Michael Reznick, Partner at F.W. Cook & Co.
