Children’s Hospital Fundraiser a Success with Help from Timeshare Advertising Company BuyaTimeshare.com
The worldwide leader in connecting timeshare buyers, sellers and renters was a sponsor of the 2013 CHaD Battle of the Badges All‐Star Hockey Championship.
Merrimack, NH, April 05, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Online timeshare resale and rental advertising leader BuyaTimeshare.com has received word that the annual CHaD Battle of the Badges All-Star Hockey Championship has raised just shy of $190,000 to support the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD).
As a sponsor of the event, BuyaTimeshare.com was informed by event organizers through email of the totals, with a record 5,511 people attending the event at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH on March 16.
CHaD is New Hampshire’s only full care children’s hospital, with this year’s event helping to bring the Battle of the Badges closer to its overall goal of raising $1 million. Over the six years that the event has taken place, organizers have now raised $980,000 to support the hospital.
“We have been involved with the event for the past 3 years, raising more than $7500 through cash donations and by hosting our own gathering at Margarita’s Restaurant in Manchester just before game time,” said Wesley Kogelman, president and CEO, BuyaTimeshare.com. “It’s all for the kids at CHaD and we’re happy to do our part to help support them.”
The Battle of the Badges brings New Hampshire firefighters and police officers together to face-off on the ice for bragging rights. This year, where more penalties were called than shots on goal, it was the return of Manchester police officer Dan Doherty that really drew a crowd. Doherty, who nearly lost his life a year earlier, was back on the ice for the Battle of the Badges. Even after a long recovery, he was able to score one of the opening goals and said every minute he played was a blessing.
"It's closure,” Doherty explained. “This was the goal, one year ago, to play in this game this year. I didn't think I would be here, but I am and everything worked out good.”
This year, the Battle of the Badges charity event was between East and West teams with each team featuring both firefighters and police officers. The game ended with Team West winning 6-5 even though Team East, trying to close a three-goal deficit, was unable to close the gap in time.
