Internationally Acclaimed Classical Crossover Artist Mario Frangoulis Brings "Beautiful Things" to the US and Canada This Spring
Mario Frangoulis, the operatically trained powerhouse tenor and leading recording artist of Greece, brings his highly anticipated 2013 North American concert series, “Beautiful Things,” to audiences this spring.
Detroit, MI, April 05, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Concert-goers are in for a rare treat as this world-renowned vocalist who started his career as Marius in “Les Miserables” in London’s West End, Tony in “West Side Story” at La Scala in Milan, and was personally chosen by Andrew Lloyd Webber to play Raoul in “Phantom of the Opera,” returns to electrify American audiences with his powerful voice and incomparable stage presence. Named 2011 Best Male Classical Crossover Artist, Frangoulis has been described as, “the kind of tenor sound that brings down the house!” With “Beautiful Things,” he has created an emotional and inspiring musical journey that will transport audiences to all corners of the world, singing in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Greek.
Each show in the series will feature talented guests, an eclectic repertoire, and engage audiences through Frangoulis’ charismatic live performing, backing vocals by an international and talented vocal ensemble, “Women of the World,” from Italy, Japan, India and the United States, and a world-class group of musicians from all over the world, including Martin Zarzar of the famed “Pink Martini.”

Selections from his live performance of “Beautiful Things” are highlighted in a public television pledge special which began airing across the US and Canada in November, 2012: Mario Frangoulis LIVE With The Boston Pops. Frangoulis’ new “Beautiful Things” CD, DVD and tickets to these performances are offered as pledge gifts, through public television stations, and on Ticketmaster. The CD features duets with Vanessa Williams, “Liza Minelli of Greece” Alkistis Protopsalti, and Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo.
The WGBH television special presents Frangoulis’ live performance at Boston Symphony Hall with Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops. Included are compositions by David Foster & Andrea Bocelli, Stephan Moccio, Steve Wood and Robin Gibb, as well as songs Frangoulis himself made famous, like “Vincero, Perdero,” and “Here’s To The Heroes,” from his two international Classical Crossover albums, Sometimes I Dream and Follow Your Heart, both fixtures on Billboard’s Classical Crossover charts. Guests on the television show are Hayley Westenra of “Celtic Woman” fame, Alkistis Protopsalti, French/Greek singer George Perris, and composer Stephan Moccio.
Frangoulis is International Ambassador for the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, underwriters of the program. A portion of proceeds from the sale and pledging of “Beautiful Things” and “Mario Frangoulis Live with The Boston Pops” will go to the Horatio Alger Association’s scholarship fund for America’s highest-risk, highest-potential young students.
