Jaycees Look to Create Positive Change in Lyons
The Region 3 Jaycees of Illinois, a leadership training organization committed to creating positive change through community involvement, is starting a new Jaycee Chapter in Lyons Illinois. They are holding a coffee social as a meet and greet in order to offer information for the community about joining the new Lyons chapter of the Jaycees.
Lyons, IL, April 05, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A group of individuals is dedicated to launching a networking outlet for people 18 to 40 in the Lyons area.
“The Jaycees are a great organization to allow young people the opportunity to network, improve their leadership skills, and make a mark in their community all at the same time,” said Illinois Jaycees President Heather Winemiller. “The Illinois Jaycees are excited about the opportunity to become involved in the Lyons community through the creation of the Lyons chapter.”
The Region 3 Jaycees are holding a coffee social to provide information about the Jaycees and the new chapter. The social will be held at Starbucks at 8499 West Ogden Avenue in Lyons at 6:30pm on April 10th, 2013. There is no cost to attend the event. For a limited time, Jaycees dues will be offered at $40 for new members to the Lyons chapter.
A civic organization for men and women between the ages of 18 and 41, the US Jaycees promote individual and leadership development and personal growth through service to others. With more than 2,000 members, the Illinois Jaycees boast more than 70 local chapters. The Jaycees are part of Junior Chamber International with nearly 200,000 young active citizens and over five million alumni – including several world leaders. Local chapters are spread over more than 5,000 local communities and 100 countries. The sense of belonging and responsibility is what leads to the growth of the organization worldwide. JCI members are proud of the impact they create around the world.
Since 1920, the organization has been a force for good in America and around the world. Jaycee chapters have built parks, playgrounds, hospitals, and established community festivals. They've raised millions of dollars local charities and for causes such as the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and more recently for global causes such as fighting malaria and international disaster relief. Notable Jaycees include past U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Gerald Ford and sports legend Larry Bird.
Take the opportunity to become a charter member of the Lyons Jaycees to create positive change in the Lyons community. Jaycees Dues are $40 for charter members.
