Swacha Hosts Second Annual Free Paper Shredding Event for PayItGreen Month
SWACHA Hopes to Shred 18,000 Pounds of Paper in Two Hours
Dallas, TX, April 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- SWACHA Hopes to Shred 18,000 Pounds of Paper in Two Hours
Dallas-based SWACHA will host a free paper shredding day on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in honor of PayItGreen® Month to motivate residents to safely dispose of their paper copies of bills, statements, and other business documents and to instead “go green” with online payments and financial services. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Calloway’s Nursery located at 1000 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75093 and is open to the public.
“We are very excited to host this event again,” said Dennis Simmons, AAP, president and CEO of SWACHA, one of the largest not-for-profit regional electronic payments associations in the country. “Last year was incredibly successful. We shredded more than 7.5 tons of paper. This year, we added a second truck in hopes of shredding more than twice that amount.”
SWACHA will have two secure, recyclable shredders on-site capable of shredding up to 18,000 pounds of paper. Attendees will have a chance to sign a banner pledging to make the move to online payments and banking while Dallas radio station 103.7 KVIL Lite FM will provide music and entertainment.
PayItGreen, an annual event held in April, encourages people to cut back on the amount of paper they use and help them understand the importance of electronic billing, statements, and payments. By receiving and paying bills electronically and opting for direct deposit paychecks, people eliminate the need for the production, transportation and disposal of paper, thus saving trees, cutting down on the number of trucks on the road and reducing wastewater. For example, if twenty percent of U.S. households switched from paper to electronic billing, 312,709 tons of greenhouse gases, or the equivalent of driving 700 million miles would be eliminated.
