High Performance Building Envelopes Are Key for Asia's Sustainable Development
The rapid development of Asia can only last if it happens in a sustainable fashion. The Building Envelopes Asia 2013 Conference, to be held April 16 - 17 in Singapore, will discuss how buildings can address this challenge. EQUITONE will contribute to the conversation with their knowledge of high performance facades.
Singapore, Singapore, April 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The tremendous economic development of Asia impacts its built environment. The continent becomes increasingly urbanized - almost 75% of Asians will live in a city by 2050. Buildings will be responsible for more than 40 per cent of Asia’s energy use.
According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the buildings sector is the domain with the highest potential for energy reduction. The integration of buildings with high performance envelopes is thus a key objective for any sustainable development.
The Building Envelopes Asia 2013 conference will discuss and debate the latest methods and technologies in high performance building envelopes. EQUITONE Fibre Cement Facade Materials is official partner at the conference. Michiel De Potter, Architect at EQUITONE Asia Pacific, says, “The annual Building Envelopes Asia conference brings together the best minds in architecture. Our experience with sustainable facades will certainly contribute to the debate."
Michiel De Potter continues, “We are committed to delivering future-proof building solutions. The environmental footprint of all of our facade materials has been reviewed through Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Moreover, EQUITONE pioneers the concept of the ventilated facade, resulting in healthier and more energy-efficient buildings. We are introducing this building technique throughout Asia.”
He adds, “On top of that, EQUITONE fibre cement is a natural composite material that shows its personality. The materials have an expressive natural aesthetic and a track record in sustainability. This makes EQUITONE the material of choice for many architects throughout Asia and the world.”
To be held April 16 - 17 in Singapore, the Building Envelopes Asia conference will feature presentations from OMA, Kohn Pedersen Fox, BCHO Architects, Benoy, Arup, Meinhardt, Ramboll, and other major architectural practices.
EQUITONE fibre cement is a composite material with premium technical and aesthetical properties, building upon the 100+ years of knowledge within Etex Group. Architects worldwide have chosen EQUITONE for their most stunning projects.
