Jazz Arts Project Names Robert Tuzzo to Board of Directors
Total Financial Concepts, Inc. CEO, Robert J. Tuzzo has been tapped to serve on the the board of directors for the Jazz Arts Project in Red Bank, N.J.
Red Bank, NJ, April 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Robert J. Tuzzo, CEO and owner of Total Financial Concepts Inc., has been appointed to the board of directors of the Jazz Arts Project, a Red Bank N.J. non-profit organization devoted to the arts.
As a musician and long-time supporter of the Jazz Arts Project, Tuzzo said his appointment would help him further assist the group in their stated mission to "preserve, promote and perpetuate the American musical art form known as jazz."
“I am very excited to be part of the Jazz Arts Project's board of directors,” said Tuzzo. “I hope to use my experience in the financial services industry to help the organization to perpetuate young student's interest in this wonderful art form.”
Tuzzo’s company, Total Financial Concepts, Inc. is an integrated financial services firm located in Edison, N.J. While he may be the owner and CEO of a financial services company, Tuzzo also is a life-long musician and avid supporter of the musical arts in the Garden State. He has been a close friend of the Jazz Arts Project for years and, most recently, was given an opportunity to perform at the organization’s Sixth Annual Frank Sinatra Birthday Bash in December 2012.
Tuzzo began performing professionally when he was only 10 years old, getting an early start as a musician that would eventually lead the singer and drummer to play in some of the hottest nightclubs in New Jersey. From 1972 through 1985 he was a member of the popular trio known as FDR Drive and shared billing on variety shows and concerts with legendary bands such as The Platters, Danny and the Juniors, Len Barry, The Earls, The Belmonts, Gary U.S. Bonds, The Dovells and the Shirelles.
In 1985, Bob switched his focus and began building his career with a plan to devote time to working in the financial services and asset management industry. However, music has remained a central focus of Tuzzo’s, and he has worked closely over the years with the board of the Jazz Arts Project. So it was no surprise when he was asked to consider joining the board. The invitation, he said, was one he enthusiastically accepted.
“The Jazz Arts Project has been instrumental in introducing jazz music to young students across the state,” Tuzzo said. “The Project conducts educational workshops and special programs designed especially for young students, many of whom have never seen or held a musical instrument before. Jazz Arts Projects camps also teach youngsters about music and helps inspire their interest in jazz in the hope that their appreciation will lead ensure the preservation of this great American art form and captivate their interest for years to come.”
Bob Tuzzo's experience in the financial sector is expected to help the Jazz Arts Project bolster its financial positioning and attract more sponsorships, however, his role will not be limited to spreadsheets, ledgers and fund raisers.
"I hope to bring new and fresh ideas to the organization that will help us continue to nurture the rising talent of young students interested in jazz," said Tuzzo.
