Los Angeles, CA, April 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Last month, Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa honored five minority business enterprises for their accomplishments, demonstrating the city’s continued commitment to diversity.
“The City of Los Angeles is committed to giving all minority businesses the resources and support they need to thrive,” Villaraigosa said in a press release announcing the awards. “Minority-owned businesses are vital to the economic well-being of Los Angeles, and their continued success stands as a strong testament to the dynamism and diversity that keeps our City going.”
Competing for contracts in LA can be difficult where there are 25,000 small businesses and minorities and women own 70 percent of them. But the City of LA has been working to ensure all diverse suppliers have a chance to compete for contracts.
On May 23, 2013 the City of LA will host another in its series of procurement matchmaking events in partnership with software developer Cloud Custom Solutions. This event, focusing on construction and related professional services, will connect diverse suppliers with opportunities on upcoming contracts.
Buyers and suppliers will have an opportunity to develop relationships prior to the matchmaking event, using Cloud Custom Solutions Diversity Empire software. This technology allows contractors to complete an online profile and request appointments with participating agencies and primes.
In addition to one-on-one meetings the event will also feature presentations on specific upcoming opportunities related to the new federal courthouse and project labor agreements.
The event will be held at the Roy A. Anderson Recreation Center Expo Center. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and matchmaking will take place at 1:00 p.m.
