Bayer MaterialScience’s Reinstadtler Elected President of Polyurea Development Association
Las Vegas, NV, April 17, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Steven Reinstadtler, industrial marketing manager – coatings for construction, Bayer MaterialScience LLC, has been elected President of the Polyurea Development Association (PDA). He will officially begin his one-year term during the association’s annual conference, April 15-17, in Las Vegas.
As a member of the PDA for 12 years, including two years as a member of the board of directors, Reinstadtler has seen the organization evolve, something he hopes to continue under his leadership.
“As PDA President, I intend to implement strategic growth and education plans developed by the Board of Directors at our Strategic Planning Workshop last June. I also intend to be more inclusive of downstream members, such as applicators, contractors and facility owners,” says Reinstadtler.
PDA is dedicated to the pure polyurea industry, but also welcomes adjacent thick-film elastomeric technologies. Reinstadtler is interested in growing and broadening the association, and his experience working with polyaspartic and polyurethane elastomer chemistry at Bayer will be helpful as he works to achieve this goal.
According to Reinstadtler, this goal aligns well with PDA’s mission statement, “To promote strong market growth and advancement of high-performance elastomeric technologies for the betterment of protective coatings, caulks, adhesives and sealants through the development of educational and marketing programs, technical standards, safety and environmental guidelines, and proper use recommendations.”
Reinstadtler began his career with Bayer, inventor of polyaspartic technology, in 1989, after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. Reinstadtler’s current position at Bayer is focused on understanding the unmet needs of high-performance coatings, such as polyureas, in the construction, infrastructure, architectural and built environments. He does this by engaging multiple points in the value chain – including architects, spec writers, contractors, and facility managers – in open and candid conversations. Reinstadtler has a technical and marketing background in both polyurea and polyurethane hybrid thick-film coatings.
In addition to PDA, Reinstadtler is active in the American Coatings Association (ACA), The Society of Protective Coatings (SSPC), and Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI). He was named a 2011 Clive Hare Honoree by JPCL: Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings. This recognizes the distinguished achievements of 24 thought leaders worldwide who have advanced the technology of protective and marine coatings in the past decade.
