Jim Dodson Law Contributes to Bike Safety Rodeo at Douglas Jamerson Elementary
St. Petersburg, FL, April 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Jim Dodson Law was privileged to participate in Pinellas County’s Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program. All Children’s Hospital will host the bicycle safety rodeo this Saturday, April 20 at Douglas Jamerson Elementary School (DJES), which will educate students on bike safety skills.
Each child will be properly fitted with a helmet before the rodeo begins. The children will then ride through five volunteer stations, where they are taught the different safety skills.
“Volunteers will help the students learn the proper steps to crossing the street, how to watch for cars backing in and out of driveways, and how to properly fit a bicycle helmet,” said Tiffany Sabiel, the community educator for SRTS Pinellas County.
Students will also learn how to signal turns and stops with hand signals, and how to scan for cars while riding in the bike lane.
Jim Dodson Law donated over 150 bike and pedestrian safety coloring books for the rodeo, which will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. “As a bicycle injury lawyer and bicycle safety advocate, I am happy to start young riders on a safe path to bicycling,” Jim Dodson said. Dodson is the author of the Florida Bicycle Accident Handbook. This popular consumer guide discusses cycling safety and what to do after a cycling accident. It is available for free at www.jimdodsonlaw.com.
The event will have a cookout, prize giveaways, and the rodeo for parents and their children to enjoy.
