New York, NY, April 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Crowdfunding Trailblazer Film AUDITION Launches Final Phase of Kickstarter Campaign
Audition, a feature film that’s part love story and part acting competition, has announced the final phase of its crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter. Currently in post-production, Audition has been a notable success story in the crowd-funding game, using the Kickstarter platform not only as a way to raise money for production costs, but also as a way to assemble its vast and talented cast. Incorporating the audition process into the film itself, Audition seamlessly intertwines the performances of one hundred actors into the portrayal of the two main characters. As the film progresses, following the story of a couple’s chance meeting and whirlwind romance, actors are gradually cut from the production. By the end of the film, one male and one female actor are cast as the “leads,” and star in the final, thrilling scene.
Writer/Director Matt Herron’s original script creates a story in which the characters’ unwavering search for love parallels the actors’ undying struggle for success. It blurs fact and fiction in a fresh new way, combining a gripping dramatic story and a compelling behind-the-scenes documentary into a single narrative. Herron, devoted to the concept of Audition since its inception fourteen years ago, explains:
“Audition is a film that pushes the cinematic boundaries of characterization, representation and narrative, appealing to a broad audience ranging from art-house enthusiasts to the average moviegoer. At its heart, this film is really a tragic love story—that familiar, yet timeless, plot that drives so many great movies. And by combining a raw, visceral depiction of this romance juxtaposed with the very real process of the actors' struggle to embody the characters, Audition creates a world of cinematic complexity that is both thought provoking and engrossing. As each scene of the film unfolds, the viewer becomes increasingly entangled in emotional identification and empathy with the characters, moving closer and closer into the intimate space of the film. Mirroring this progression, the pool of auditioning actors is increasingly distilled after each major act, continually highlighting the best performers until only two actors remain to play out the final climactic scene.”
Herron is optimistic that this final phase of the Kickstarter campaign will provide Audition with the finishing funds and momentum it needs to complete editing, color correction, sound mixing, and the variety of other costs accrued during the post-production process.
