First Ukrainian 3D Animation Project Comes to Kickstarter
3D-Sparrow, a Kiev-based animation studio, announced today that their 3D animation project "Buba" has come to Kicktarter.com.
Kiev, Ukraine, April 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- "Buba" project is a series about a clumsy little alien who explores the Earth and constantly gets into funny situations. 3D-Sparrow seeks crowdfunding support for production of the first 5 episodes of three minutes each (15 minutes in total).
"Buba" is the first Ukrainian 3D animation project that made it to Kickstarter:http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878586756/buba-the-animated-series .
It is a story of a little alien creature named Buba, who came here to explore our world. Because of total misunderstanding of our way of life and his infinite curiosity he gets into ridiculous and funny troubles. Buba is a kid after all; he is unpredictable, curious, mischievous, cute, and kind (even when he gets mad).
"We have watched lots of movies and TV series about aliens, and we asked ourselves: why are they always showed as horrible creatures trying to kill humans and destroy our world? Then we decided to create our own vision of an alien: chubby, simple-minded, cute, clumsy and blusterous," - says Sergey Gorobets, team leader of 3D-Sparrow.
In depicting Buba's adventures the authors aspire to the cartoon style with theatre-like background, exaggerated sound effects, and pantomime. 3D-Sparrow has presented a demo reel for potential backers to give a full impression of the project, show Buba in motion (animation), his personality, the general visualization, the style, the atmosphere, and the surroundings. It is available here: https://vimeo.com/60859440
Now that the preparatory period is over, "Buba" project comes to Kickstarter to seek crowdfunding support for production of the first five episodes (15 minutes in total). Since modeling, rigging, texturing, fur, dynamics, shading and lighting of the character are already set and tested, the creation of each episode will be considerably cheapened and quickened. The main tasks will include scripting, animation, final visualization and sound effects.
The funds will be used to employ additional personnel, so that the 3D-Sparrow team could work on the project full-time and complete it within 7-8 months. According to the studio's plans, the total number of episodes will be about 20-25, but in fact it will be limited only by imagination or the budget.
"We expect that after creation of the first five episodes we will be able either to get governmental support or to secure private investments," - explains Sergey Gorobets.
Key features of "Buba" project:
- a cute little alien exploring the Earth;
- funny situations caused by his curiosity and ignorance;
- pantomime style: understandable for people of all languages;
- theatre-like background settings;
- comic sound effects that intrigue the audience and attract attention;
- original background music;
- about 25 episodes of three minutes each;
- target audience: the whole family, starting from 2-years old kids.
