Half a decade ago when flash was still “cool” and mobile wasn’t too much of a concern for a business, Connecticut Design Center contacted Skygate Media to design and create an interactive “design-oriented” website to represent the strongest online image for the furniture and design center in Norwalk CT. The first version of their website was dull, light brown, small font with pixelated images. Re-branding was a concern and a flash website was born. The reaction from their existing customer was marvelous. Followed by a SEO campaign, we were able to see more foot traffic to their showroom and there was a higher phone volume.
With Apple’s rise in popularity and a shift away from Flash, Skygate Media changed the Connecticut Design Center website from flash to html and ensured a mobile friendly version of the site. It is product oriented with a web 3.0 focus including forms, maps and a blog which encourages customer interaction. By adding the blog, it enables CTDC to update showroom news, featured products, events and new launches. Thus, offering incentive for repeat visitors to the site.
The newly designed website is chic, user intuitive and has creative use of visuals. An image slideshow showcases the products in a sophisticated way, standing out against the black background. Extra features that add to the high-end look and feel of the site include, the “Get Directions” function below the map. Customers can receive driving directions directly on the site rather than going to another site. There is also a slide out facebook tag that shows the number of “likes” and encourages visitors to visit their facebook page. Kimberly, one of the interior design experts said, “The website looks really great! We are so happy with how it turned out, I really think it is going to make us look more professional in SO many ways.”
