Beverly Stewart, M.Ed Named to State Advisory Committee
Beverly Stewart, M.Ed, Director of Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, was recently named to the Delaware Lieutenant Governor’s Small Business Advisory Committee.
Wilmington, DE, April 26, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn recently created the statewide Committee to provide better input from the state’s small business community in the operations of state government. In addition to Stewart, 16 other Committee Members represent a variety of small businesses from all three counties.
According to the Lieutenant Governor’s office, topics for discussion include improvements to the state’s small business loan programs, providing better information to small businesses about requirements of the Affordable Care Act, controlling workers compensation premiums, and state and county regulations. The Committee’s meetings will be publicized and open to the public.
“This is a unique opportunity,” says Stewart. “The Committee is formed from such a diverse group of small business owners that each brings a distinct perspective to the table. The state can only benefit from the combined set of business experiences -- ranging from travel to real estate, from hotel and restaurant management, to builders and pharmaceuticals.”
Stewart’s own firm, Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, Inc. was founded in 1985, and in the 28 years since, Back to Basics’ tutors and instructors have provided over 12,500 students with exceptional 1-on-1 tutoring in over 60 subjects, plus enrollment in their unique, Department of Education-approved K-12 Private School. Back to Basics also has over 60 foreign language translators and interpreters on staff for district and government contracts. The company is also a Department of Labor approved provider and a Department of Education approved Business and Trade School for ages 16+.
Back to Basics employs over 95 experienced, professional educators, all of whom hold Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degrees. These caring, supportive teachers know how to help students develop confidence, improve skills, and succeed, using their particular learning style. Every instructor is hand-picked to achieve optimum success for each student and create a strong rapport between a student and a teacher. The company services clients in Delaware from Wilmington to Newark, New Castle to Middletown, and down state, plus surrounding areas of Pennsylvania and Maryland. Tutoring is available at their Center in Wilmington, in clients’ homes, schools, daycares, or workplaces, and also in the Newark, Delaware annex on Paper Mill Road.
In addition to the Lieutenant Governor’s Small Business Advisory Committee, Stewart is a Founding Board Member and Director Emeritus, Wilmington Women in Business Foundation; Board of Directors, Success Won’t Wait (reading literacy non-profit); Board of Directors, McNeill Designs for Greater Minds (educational game company); Board of Directors, Horizon House (mental health non-profit); Board of Directors, New Castle County Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors, Small Business Development Center (SBDC); Board of Directors and Founding Board Member, Leon Weiner Education Foundation.
