Credit Union Chooses Rise Performance Group for Leadership Development, Job Candidate Assessments
Amplify Federal Credit Union is using leadership training and job candidate assessment tools from Rise Performance Group to improve its front-line hiring and enhancing its managers' capabilities.
Dallas, TX, May 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Amplify Federal Credit Union of Austin, Texas, is now using job candidate assessment tools and the CheckPoint 360 leadership training and development system from Rise Performance Group.
Amplify is a $612 million credit union serving some 43,000 members. The 200-employee credit union, originally founded in 1967 to serve employees of IBM, is a federally chartered credit union with seven branches in Austin and five central Texas counties. Amplify has a strong emphasis on online financial services, serving an electronically sophisticated membership base.
For Amplify, a change in the credit union's approach to service delivery at its branches prompted it to look at how to improve hiring.
"Interviews are very subjective, and we were looking to make the selection process a bit more scientific," explained Denise Hart, vice president of human resources. "We want to get the best match, which will allow us to train people more quickly. In turn, they will serve our members better, meet their own goals more quickly and have higher job satisfaction."
The job candidate assessment tools Amplify is using from Rise Performance Group are designed to evaluate how well a candidate fits specific jobs in an organization based on thinking style, behavioral traits, and occupational interests.
Before adopting the job candidate assessment tools, Amplify had been hiring employees through the traditional process – preliminary face-to-face interviews and a background check. Now Amplify has already used the tool on more than 20 job candidates.
"It has given insight to our managers about areas where individual candidates might have difficulties with job expectations or our company culture," said Jenny Voigt, senior human resources generalist for Amplify. "That allows them to probe more specifically in those areas during the interview."
Amplify's use of the CheckPoint 360 system is expanding its leadership training and development efforts. The credit union in 2012 focused on coaching for its top executives, and this year the emphasis is on middle managers.
With the CheckPoint 360 system, managers are assessed based on the feedback of their superiors, their peers, and the people they manage. The tool focuses on eight management competencies, and once the assessment is complete, managers receive individual development plans and guidance regarding ways they can improve and be more effective. Subsequent applications of the CheckPoint 360 system can then assess how well managers have improved.
"We are looking to assess our future talent and prepare these managers for the next level," Hart said. "We will be using the CheckPoint 360 system over the next two years, and Rise Performance Group is customizing some of the training that will be included in the leadership development program that we will be offering. Not only are we looking to groom new leaders, but to improve the leadership team overall for the benefit of all employees and our credit union members.”
"When it comes to both their hiring and their leadership development, Amplify Federal Credit Union is a very sophisticated organization," said Mark Fenner, president of Rise Performance Group. "We are continuing to work with Amplify on an ongoing basis to customize both of these tools to their specific and evolving needs and provide them the best results possible."
