Convaid Partners with Nehemiah Vision Ministries to Provide Special Needs Children in Haiti Wheelchairs
The two organizations came together to help families in Haiti meet the basic needs of life.
Torrance, CA, May 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- As part of Convaid’s community outreach efforts, the company has teamed up with Nehemiah Vision Ministries (NVM) to help provide special needs children in Haiti compact-folding, lightweight wheelchairs. Convaid donated two of their Tilt-in-Space Rodeo wheelchairs, which are known for its lightweight frame and adjustable tilt.
NVM purpose is to help children, families and their communities in Haiti meet the basic needs of life. To help make this possible for two children, one living with cerebral palsy and the other severe hydrocephalus, Convaid provided them with wheelchairs to help themselves and their families reclaim their freedom.
“Working with organizations like NVM, allows us to help children that often go unnoticed,” said President of Convaid Chris Braun. “We are glad NVM reached out to us and we were able to help these children gain independence.”
Dr. Kerstin Sobus, leader of the NVM’s Medical Mission Trips, said these wheelchairs will not only help provide much needed support for the children, but give them the equipment they need to go through the rough terrain in Haiti’s natural areas.
“I really like Convaid wheelchairs,” Sobus said. “These chairs will provide support for children with severe hydrocephalus, spina bifida and cerebral palsy with lower extremity contractures. Plus, they are relatively compact, which is great for these families in Haiti who live in small one or two room huts where space is very tight.”
