NextDiesel™ Biodiesel Plant Officially Opens in Adrian
Adrian, MI, August 17, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Biofuel Industries Group, LLC, a privately owned holding company that provides resources and strategic direction to its alternative energy affiliates, announced the official opening of the NextDiesel™ Biodiesel Facility located at 1571 W. Beecher Rd. in Adrian, Michigan.
On Tuesday, the 25-acre plant held its official grand opening ceremony featuring several of Michigan’s top dignitaries, including Governor Jennifer Granholm and U.S Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin. State Congressman Tim Walberg, State Senators Cameron Brown and Gilda Jacobs, Representative Dudley Spade and Adrian Mayor Gary McDowell were also in attendance.
The NextDiesel™ Biodiesel Facility, which broke ground in December 2006, is the state’s first to be built in a designated Renewable Energy Renaissance Zone.
In addition to creating new jobs in the area, the NextDiesel™ Biodiesel Facility is the largest biodiesel manufacturing facility in Michigan, initially producing 20 million gallons per year with the capacity to manufacture as much as 100 million gallons annually. With its state-of-the-art technology, the plant will be able to produce its high-quality, signature NextDiesel™ biodiesel using a variety of feedstocks that can be used in any diesel engine and its NextHeat™ biodiesel for home heating.
NextDiesel™ is an advanced ASTM compliant commercial B100 biodiesel fuel, which is manufactured using a highly automated process that does not emit greenhouse gases and uses only recycled water during its production process.
“We are proud to create a first-class product that is environmentally friendly,” said Terry Nosan, one of the founders of Biofuel Industries Group, LLC. “At the same time, we are also excited to help provide new jobs, markets and opportunities in Michigan and throughout the Midwest. The location in Adrian was selected because of its strong, agricultural-based community, its easy accessibility by truck or rail and its close proximity to our suppliers and distributors in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.”
Biodiesel is a clean-burning fuel made entirely from renewable, carbon dioxide absorbing, resources such as vegetable oils, waste oils and greases and animal fat. Accepted by the EPA as a viable alternative and enhancement to petro-diesel, biodiesel has several advantages:
Blends are compatible with modern diesel engines without mechanical modifications or adjustments;
It can be used in pure form (B100) but will most likely be blended with petroleum diesel at various concentrations (e.g., B20 contains 20% biodiesel);
Biodiesel eliminates dependency on foreign oil; In Michigan, for example, 1 billion gallons of diesel fuel are used each year. By using as little as B2, or a 2% blend, our NextDiesel™ brand would displace 20 million gallons of foreign oil with fuel primarily grown by farmers here at home;
It provides excellent lubricity, which reduces wear and tear on diesel engines and increases the life of engine components; and
Biodiesel is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, low in sulfur emissions, and non-toxic.
