Singing Sands Inn Announces Results of Its First-Ever Facebook Competition
Singing Sands Inn's debut Facebook contest has come to a close - the contest has been a great success, drawing in many great entries and showcasing the dedication of contestants to sharing and getting votes on their photos. It was a winner-take-all competition, with contestants vying for a 5-night stay for two at the resort, inclusive of breakfast daily and airport transfers.
Maya Beach, Belize, May 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Singing Sands Inn takes great pleasure in announcing the results of its first-ever photo competition on Facebook. Sherlett O’Brian, of Belize, has emerged as the undisputed winner of a 5-night vacation for two. Singing Sands Inn takes this time to congratulate her and to say that they are immensely looking forward to welcoming her to their world-class resort in Maya Beach, 7 miles north of the popular town of Placencia, Belize.
The contest was launched on April 2, 2013 and ended at 4:00 PM on May 2, 2013. The rules of the contest were simple – contestants needed to enter a photo, along with a short caption that elaborated why they should win. Contestants were encouraged to share their entry with their friends on Facebook in order to get the most ‘Votes’ for their photo. The prize at stake was a 5-night stay for two in a well-appointed beachfront cabana at Singing Sands Inn, as well as breakfast daily and transfers from and back to the Placencia airstrip.
63 hopefuls submitted their photos for a chance to win, along with stories of why their photo should be voted for. There was a total of 1,218 votes cast by the time the contest ended, after which it was clear that voters felt that Sherlett’s story and photo were the most deserving of the prize - her entry nabbed the prize with 350 votes. Her caption was among the most concise in the competition – her 19-word comment revealed that she is a hard-working single mother of two boys, and that she’d like to win to get a well-deserved break with her family. The simplicity of her entry, complete with a photo of a smiling Sherlett leaning casually against the railing of a bridge, captures the identity of many working-class Belizeans – regular, everyday folk who take care of their families and, with little time for themselves, prefer to take joy in the small things in life. The Management and Staff of Singings Sands are happy that she now has a hard-won vacation to look forward to at their idyllic, laid back resort in Maya Beach.
Singing Sands Inn thanks all those who participated by submitting a photo or voting, and invites all to keep visiting its Facebook page and website for news on latest deals and specials and for information on future contests.

Maya Beach – Maya Beach is a gorgeous beachfront community located just north of the popular town of Placencia, Belize. Unlike Placencia, Maya Beach is secluded and quiet, offering a tranquil vacation to guests who wish to have the beach and sea to themselves. Maya Beach is far removed from the bustle of town, yet resorts in this area still provide all expected amenities to guests, including air conditioning, heated water, full-service restaurants serving gourmet dishes, and inland and marine tours. The area is becoming slowly populated by businesses catering to the tourist market, as well as by private residential homes; for now, however, it is still newly-discoverable by visitors to its shores.
