USP Class Vi Approval Certifies Hose to an Increased Level of Purity for Sanitary Applications

AdvantaPure’s flexible rubber-covered hose has an FEP fluoropolymer core that has now been tested and approved for USP Class VI certification. The multi-ply hose, called APFRC, is well suited for both pressure and vacuum applications in a variety of clean process industries, such as pharmaceutical, food, distilled beverage, chemical, and biotech. The ingredients of APFRC’s smooth, non-stick FEP core also comply with FDA and USDA standards.

Southampton, PA, August 17, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Immediately available from AdvantaPure(R) is rubber-covered FEP hose with a USP Class VI-approved core. Manufactured for use primarily in the pharmaceutical, food, distilled beverage, chemical, and biotech industries, the multi-ply hose is durable, highly flexible, kink resistant, and suitable for both pressure and vacuum applications.

The hose, called APFRC, has always had an interior produced with materials that meet Class VI requirements, but now the finished core itself is Class VI tested and approved. This certification offers a higher degree of purity and safety for the products flowing through the hose. In addition to the core’s Class VI approval, its ingredients comply with FDA and USDA standards. APFRC’s other construction materials consist of a woven fabric overbraid, double spiral steel wire reinforcement, and a protective outer jacket of EPDM rubber.

The FEP fluoropolymer core of APFRC provides a smooth, non-stick surface for unrestricted fluid flow. Often referred to as Teflon(R), FEP offers resistance to a wide range of chemicals and handles temperatures from –40°F (-40°C) to 300°F (148°C). The hose’s many layers protect the core and greatly enhance its pressure carrying capability and capacity to withstand full vacuum. The outer cover safeguards APFRC against dirt, chemicals, environmental hazards, ozone, radiation, and abrasion. Despite its multiple plies, the hose is very flexible and resists kinking. APFRC may be sterilized by autoclaving.

APFRC is stocked in 1/2”, 3/4”, 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2” I.D. sizes. Also stocked is a full line of 316L stainless steel sanitary fittings to mate with the hose. All sanitary fittings meet 3-A and ASME/BPE specifications, and custom assemblies are available through AdvantaPure’s network of authorized fabricating distributors.
