Inner Affluence Entrepreneur, Evelyn Kalinosky Takes 2nd Place in Online Reality Show
Wilkes-Barre, PA, May 05, 2013 --(PR.com)-- For Pennsylvania entrepreneur Evelyn Kalinosky, her creativity and drive to succeed were two of several ingredients that helped her earn a spot on the Premiere Season of the groundbreaking online competition reality show “Prosperity’s Kitchen.”
They were also the traits that helped her win Second Place and her share of a prize package worth nearly $10,000 after competing for 13 weeks against 14 other contestants.
“Every one of the contestants on the show are brilliant and talented people, and I’m honored to have competed alongside them these past few months,” said Kalinosky. “I’m a writer and creating with words is second nature to me, but having to do my own graphic design and other visually creative things for different challenges (which I would normally outsource) forced me to dig deep and cultivate that part of me. Having 13 weeks of completed projects that are directly relevant to my business and can be integrated now is a prize all its own.”
Kalinosky is the powerhouse behind Inner Affluence, a company she started in 2009. After 20 successful years working in the corporate and non-profit world as a leader in fundraising, sales, marketing, management and operations, Evelyn experienced a turning point as she approached midlife. As her life began to shift in the inquiry, she discovered two things: the older she got the more powerful she felt, and she wasn’t alone.
Today she mentors high-achieving business women through their own unique turning points, and helps them cultivate extraordinary lives of passion and purpose in midlife and beyond.
Evelyn believes we come into the world as sacred beings. As we go through life, we let upbringing, cultural values, family, responsibility, career…divide us from it until we reach a point when we remember that sacredness is our birthright and we begin to come back around, to remember our innate creativity, our purpose, and the desires we left behind, something Evelyn refers to as “Wealth of the Self.”
Story of Triumph
While working for a national non-profit organization that required long hours and a lot of travel, Evelyn began feeling physically “off” in 2005. By 2007 she was diagnosed with a progressive, debilitating illness for which there was no cure. By January 2009 she was forced to give up her position, and not one to sit idly by, she opened Inner Affluence in the spring of 2009 despite dealing with chronic, debilitating pain, numerous hospitalizations and multiple surgeries.
Evelyn looked at her situation as a challenge, and her resilience and grace under difficult circumstances made her a source of inspiration to both her colleagues and clients. Despite being gravely ill, she became an expert in her field, won top honors for her Sacred Success blog and developed an array of programs and services to better serve her clientele.
In December 2011, Evelyn underwent a rare surgery and transplant. After taking a full year to recover, Evelyn is back and looking to make 2013 her breakout year. The surgery has left her with numerous health issues, but she’s not letting them get in her way and is approaching them the way she approaches everything else in her life: with grace, resilience and a quirky sense of humor.
First Place went to Ang Jandak of Lowbrow Events; Third Place to Tiffany Manley of Sweet Phenomena and Fourth Place to Joseph Richards of Salary Negotiators.
Auditions
Evelyn learned about the show via social media and applied to be a contestant so she could gain a better understanding of how to be an effective solopreneur. “When you work for yourself you wear so many different hats. You try doing it all, but it’s important to know what you’re meant to be doing and what you’re meant to outsource so you can focus on building your business. I know I need to put on my CEO hat and work on my business instead of in my business, and my hope is that Prosperity’s Kitchen can give me the confidence I need to OWN what I do.”
Evelyn made it through three rounds of eliminations before being selected as one of 15 contestants for the show. Her audition video is available on YouTube here.
