WeeCare Occupational Therapy Announces Summer Camp Series in Hoboken

WeeCare OT in Hoboken announces summer programs for children and referral program for parents to earn a discounted rate. Classes include a handwriting camp, social skills camp, structured play group, parent workshop and an organizational workshop. Classes are offered during the week and during evenings and weekends to maximize children's availability during the summer.

Hoboken, NJ, May 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Families in Hoboken, Jersey City, and the surrounding New Jersey towns now have the chance to receive up to 30% off registration fees for summer programs at WeeCare Occupational Therapy, a leading occupational therapy practice in Hoboken, N.J., through a new referral program. Parents have the chance to earn a discount of 10% for each referral up to three, or 30% off, per program they register for this summer. Five classes will be offered this summer during two sessions, the first running July 1 – 27 and the second from July 29 – August 24 with the programs meeting twice a week.

In addition to daytime programs, WeeCare is offering classes during the evenings and weekends, making it easier for working parents to bring their child to their sensory studio, located at the Monroe Center for the Arts. Programs are available for children both with and without occupational therapy needs, aged 3 years old and up. They are:

- The Write Camp – a handwriting program for all children aged 3-13 that provides critical skills for letter formation, word spacing, and cursive writing. Three levels are available depending on the child's writing proficiency.
- The Buddy Club – a social skills training program ages 5/6 & 7/8 that teaches children unspoken social rules through games and activities.
- The Wee Club – a sensory motor-based play group for ages 3-4 who have difficulty succeeding in typical community play groups because of poor sensory processing.
- The Play Date Workshop – a parent workshop that teaches how to plan and implement a purposeful and meaningful play date or social group.
- Organizational Workshop – designed for students grade 5 and up, the workshop provides skills to become more independent and successful in the classroom.

WeeCare Occupational Therapy founder and lead therapist, Marti Austin said, “Based on the concerns expressed by clients and parents in the community, we want to use whatever extra time available to children during the summer to offer what we believe are the most helpful resources, such as our handwriting groups, The Write Camp. This comes from seeing a dramatic increase in the number of non-special education children referred to OT for handwriting during the school year. Our goal is to encourage and develop good writing skills early rather than trying to correct bad habits later.”

All of WeeCare’s programs use concrete strategies and have been developed to address specific needs from the community. New Jersey has the highest incidence rate for autism in the country, which is why The Buddy Club is designed to train social skills as an imperative element for the development of peer relationships.
