The International Triple Crown of Euchre Returns to Ohio in June 28+29 2013
Westerville, OH, May 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The first leg of the Triple Crown aka, The great North American Euchre ShowDown Tournament, is coming back to the American Legion Hall on East College Ave. This event is sponsored by OhioEuchre.com and Bicycle Cards and draws euchre aficionados from near and far. This will be the third year for the event at this venue.
In the later 19th century Euchre was widely regarded as the national card game. Although its popularity had decreased for a number of years, It has been making a comeback. Today, with this renewed interest, there are many new and enthusiastic fans. This is due largely because of the many instructional web sites available, as well as the ability to play the game on-line. Euchre has a strong following in western New York, Ontario, and the mid western states. It is also making a return to other parts of North America.
This two day event is divided into two parts. On Friday participants use a format that is known as progressive euchre. In this style every game is played with a new partner. On Saturday the game is partners euchre. As you would expect, play is with two sets of partners, against each other.
The top scoring teams from Friday will go on to compete against the winners from the next two legs, The second to be held in Flint, Mi. in July and the third will be in Sarnia, On., in September.
