La Casa Dolce Café Showcases Italy’s Finest Wines at August Wine & Gelato Tasting
Tampa, FL, August 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The last Thursday of every month, La Casa Dolce Café, located at 406 S. Howard Avenue on Tampa’s “Restaurant Row”, hosts a unique tasting opportunity as wines are paired with a specially matched selection of Italian desserts, including gelatos and sorbets. The cost to sample all of the pairings is $10 per person. At the next event, scheduled for Thursday, August 30, five pairings will be tasted, featuring Italy’s finest wines.

Bollini Reserve Selection Pinot Grigio with Green Apple Sorbet
Zonin White Merlot with Zabaione Gelato
Le Bruniche Chardonnay with Peanut Butter Gelato
Michele Chiarlo Barbera D’Asti with Caramel Gelato
Nozzole Chianti with Triple Chocolate Cake
“Italy is one of the largest producers of wine in the world, so we thought it would be appropriate to have a tasting featuring a variety of Italian wines,” said Dell Dahl, Chief Executive Officer of La Casa Dolce Café. “Due to the characteristics of acidity and dryness, Italian wines tend to please the palate most when paired with foods, and what’s more appropriate than Italian desserts and gelato?”
For those unfamiliar with gelato, it is Italian for ice cream, but this version of ice cream is made with less than half the fat of the traditional kind. All the gelatos and sorbets at La Casa Dolce Café are made on site using only the freshest seasonal fruits, nuts and chocolates.
The event runs continuously from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Attendees can show up any time during those hours and sample the pairings at their own pace. All wines featured that evening are available for sale, with purchases made at the event receiving a special 20 percent discount. All foods and desserts featured are also available for purchase. Gelatos and sorbets can be taken out in convenient pint or quart containers. Guests can even host their own Wine and Gelato tasting at home by purchasing the evening’s or past pairings thanks to the new “Host Your Own” program. The program includes two bottles of each wine in the selected tasting, one quart of every gelato used, information on the chosen wines from the winery, and gelato cups and spoons for up to ten guests.
