Voluntary Crime Free Lease Addendums Program Has Positive Results at Copper Creek Crossings

The partnership between the management company, the local police department and the voluntary implementation of a Crime Free Lease Addendum program has been a success at Copper Creek Crossings apartments.

Belleville, IL, May 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Fights and parties every night were common complaints from residents of the Copper Creek Crossings apartments on Freedom Drive in Belleville. Through hard work the property is now very quiet—the partnership between the management company, the local police department and the voluntary implementation of a Crime Free Lease Addendum program has been a success.

Lexington Asset Management started the Crime Free Lease Addendum program at Copper Creek Crossings last year in an effort to keep illegal activities off the property. The addendum is a civil contract between a landlord and tenant where the rental applicant agrees prior to leasing a property that they will abide by the rules of the property and not participate or allow criminal activity within their sphere of influence. Violation of the addendum is cause for termination of the tenancy.

Sergeant Kim Fulkerson of the Belleville Police Department confirmed that the program has helped to reduce the frequency of disturbance calls they receive from the apartments. The Belleville City Council is also considering the recommendations of a task force to make the voluntary program a city ordinance.

“We think it is only fair to all of our tenants that they and their families can live in a crime-free environment,” says Christian Brodin, president of Lexington Asset Management. “We have worked closely with Mayor Mark Eckert, the police department, and local neighborhood groups to help turn the neighborhood around. We have implemented the Crime Free Lease Addendum program in properties we manage in other states, too.”
