Transcend to Participate in Boston’s Run to Remember

Boston, MA, May 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, May 26, Transcend client manager Bonnie Larkin will be running in Boston's Run to Remember half-marathon to benefit the care and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. To support her participation in the run, her Transcend co-workers at the company’s Boston headquarters donated $400, and will be cheering her along the course. As a result of individual donations, including from Transcend employees, Bonnie was able to surpass her $1000 fundraising goal.
Bonnie will be running to support the Alzheimer’s Association, a major sponsor of the race, with all proceeds she raises going directly toward improving the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's, supporting caregivers, and funding critical research needed to find a cure to end Alzheimer's.
For Bonnie, the inspiration to run in the charity event came after hearing of her great-aunt Ellie’s painful battle with Alzheimer’s disease, which affects over 5 million Americans. “I am running so one day no one will have to see a family member suffer through the pain of losing their memories and their dignity,” she said.
Boston’s Run to Remember is an annual event held as a tribute to fallen Massachusetts law enforcement officers. The 13.1 mile run starts at the Seaport World Trade Center and travels through historic downtown Boston before finishing back at the Seaport. In total, over 10,000 runners have signed up for the Memorial Day weekend race.
“I am so thankful to have the opportunity to run in the half-marathon, to fight against Alzheimer’s disease, but also to honor all the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2013,” Bonnie said. “There’s no question that the race will take on extra significance this year as a result of the last month’s marathon bombings. I am very proud of Boston and the way the city has persevered.”
Bonnie thanks everyone who has donated and helped her achieve her fundraising goal. She now asks for any additional donations to be sent to The One Fund Boston to support those families affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. www.onefundboston.org
