Dow Corning Launches Advanced New Moisturizing Silicone Emulsion for Premium Hair Product Formulations at NYSCC 2013
Pittsfield, MA, May 17, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, introduced here today, at the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day 2013 (Booth #911), Dow Corning® CE-8411 Smooth Plus Emulsion. This new nonionic silicone emulsion not only imparts a moisturizing feel and conditioning benefits, but also enhances shine, flexibility and protection against heat and color fading – without weighing hair down. Using the new technology, consumers can now achieve a silky, slippery quality to their hair. Dow Corning CE-8411 Smooth Plus Emulsion is easy to formulate in water-based hair care products such as luxury rinse-off conditioners and shampoos, with recommended use levels ranging from 1 to 5 percent.
“The versatile sensory and functional benefits of silicone have made it a popular ingredient in many hair care products as consumers increasingly call for improved products that meet their own individualized personal needs,” said Feifei Lin, global Hair Care marketing leader, Beauty Care at Dow Corning. “Our new Dow Corning CE-8411 Smooth Plus Emulsion allows for the formulation of improved moisturizing shampoos and conditioners for a wide range of hair types helping to meet consumer demand for the enhanced new products they want.”
Dow Corning CE-8411 Smooth Plus Emulsion is a milky white, pourable nonionic emulsion with amine and polyether functionality and an active silicone content of about 56 percent. In Dow Corning’s dry and wet comb testing, the new emulsion performed exceptionally well on dry hair in a rinse-off conditioner, and had good performance on wet hair, especially in conditioning shampoos. Importantly, the product also increases shine – traditionally a difficult challenge for water-based hair products – as well as hair volume and flexibility.
Among the advanced benefits of the new silicone emulsion is an ability to anchor itself to hair strands to deliver its moisturizing effects. However, Dow Corning studies show this process occurs without weighing down the hair – an important issue for consumers. The result is a light feel, even after repeated use.
