Young Peoples Workshops Offers Unique Spin on Summer Camp
Youth organization in Austin, Texas lends unique summer camp experience, with customizable camp options and a full immersion Spanish Day Camp.
Austin, TX, May 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- While students relish the freedom summer brings, parents often seek ways to fill their child’s extra time with productive and enriching activities. With summer just a few short weeks away, now is the time to plan.
Young Peoples Workshop (YPW) in Austin, Texas, offers a unique, customizable summer camp experience to fill those summer days. YPW leads over 28 sessions, with catchy names like "Messy, Sticky and Slimy Chemistry", "Insectopia" and "Smash It, Crash It, Launch It." Campers can choose a variety of classes, to create the perfect blend of discovery, exploration and education.
“We have a camp for every child’s curiosities,” said Monica Moreno, director of YPW. “We make learning fun by creating an interactive and individualized experience for every camper.”
New for 2013, YPW staff eases the registration process for parents by offering to hand select classes for campers, ensuring a diverse and customized schedule.
In addition to the sciences and arts, YPW also runs a full-immersion Spanish Day Camp. Activities are conducted entirely in Spanish, with beginner to advanced levels for age preschool to middle school. Instructors use a playful teaching style, with dramatic presentation, songs, games, miming and gestures to enhance both comprehension and fun.
“The best way to learn a language is to become completely immersed in it,” said Moreno. “Even beginner students become quickly comfortable with this method of education.”
Spanish Camp features unique curriculum such as how to prepare and cook traditional Latin American dishes, as well as a variety of field trips to a Latin Supermarket, Latin TV News Station, Austin Zoo, Mexican-American Cultural Center and more.
YPW Camps are offered in one-week increments from June to August. All YPW instructors are certified schoolteachers or highly trained professionals with extensive experience. Camps are located in Westlake Austin and Round Rock and available for ages three to twelve.
